How did Canada not enter the race to discover a vaccine to stop the Corona pandemic ?

I think Canada should have been among the countries participating in the race to obtain a vaccine against the Covid 19-Corona virus. Canada is an important country, 

and it should not have missed the honor of participating in stopping a pandemic threatening the world
